Batangas City--A total of 50 families were granted free housing projects by the Balay (Home) Project, a housing project of the Batangas Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
The recipients were also given financial assistance, carpentry kits to build their houses and relocate from their former homes located in calamity-prone areas.
Led by Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto, the granting of the financial assistance worth P50,000 were given to the families from Balete and Mataas na Kahoy towns.
Also present in the granting ceremonies were the barangay officials,Municipal Social Welfare Officers.
A total of P2.5M were also given to the residents of Baranggay Magapi and Paligawan from Balete town and the villages of Kinalaglagan, Manggahan, Calingatan from the town of Mataas na Kahoy. Those areas were declared as calamity danger zone.
Under the Balay Project, the relocated residents were also given seminars and values oriented lessons to be able to participate in the improvement of their new homes and villages. (SLI)
