Resort sets “End of the World Party”

The scary invitation to Scandi Diver's End of the World Party is now
blasting on social media networks.

Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro—What better way to see the world end than an “End of the World Party?”  This is now the latest and probably the most talked about party in this part of the island.

Scandi Divers, one of the leading dive resorts in Big Lalaguna Beach, in Brgy. Sabang here is now preparing for the end of the world party tonight at the Sky Bar, the open bar on the resort's penthouse.  The party invites and details has been circulating all over the island and was blasted on social media networks for weeks now.

Asked why the resort would be having this kind of party, Terry O’Dowd, the resort manager said it will be a good reason to party for the last time before the world ends, if it will really end.

“The ancient Mayan calendar is predicting the end of the world as we know it after December 21, 2012.  So my friend Paul Voice and I thought  ‘what better way to go out than partying,” he said.

Scandi's Sky Bar will be the venue for the End of the World Party
tomorrow night.
Sky Bar, the party venue, he said, will definitely be the best vantage point to witness the event, if the end of times really happen.  The Sky Bar is situated on the center of the Big Lalaguna Beach, with the most spectacular view of the Puerto Galera Bay and  the Verde Island.

Terry, who is also the general manager of Scandi Diver’s sister resort, Campbell’s Beach Resort, said the party will have a lot of fun with U-Rock bank rocking all night, lots of good food, cold drinks, and dancing.

“And happy hour till the end of the world,” Terry added.

Should the party people come as they are or should they be dressed in alien costumes?

“Come as you are,” Terry said, But if you feel like dressing in costume there will be a prize for the  best dressed, so this may be the last chance to get an award for best costume.  Before the world ends.”
They will watch the end of the world here. The view from the Sky Bar.

For decades, Hollywood and the mainstream media have popularized the ancient Mayan calendar’s prediction that the end of the world will happen on December 21, 2012, the same date that another ancient civilization—the  Hopi Indians, also predicted.

But new studies now by archeologists who have found the earliest Mayan’s Long Count Calendar say it really does not predict the end of the world on December 21, 2012.

Instead, it just predicts the end of the fifth cycle of the earth’s 26,000-year history which began in 3114 BC and will end on December 21, 2012.

But the end of the world party is not only confined to Scandi’s in Puerto Galera.
Scandi Divers is one of the leading dive resorts in Puerto Galera.

Hotels and bars in Manila are also having the same gigs that are just set like a mockery of the doomsayers who have long campaigned about the end of times.

Still on the final preparations for the party, Terry said they’re not really expecting an alien invasion, or the great shift, or the new world order during the party or after.

“What we’re expecting is probably only a hangover but let’s wait and see. Come 1 a.m. December 22 and nothing happens, we’ll just tell our guests that it was a good idea for a party. Who knows? Maybe it’s the last party we’re gonna have.  So it's really a good idea to party with us till the end of the world, ” Terry added. (Mei Magsino, SLI)
