Two inmates escape Batangas jail

Despite the tight security at the Batangas Provincial Jail,
two inmates were able to escape Monday morning.
Batangas City--- After cutting the galvanized roof of the male detention center using tailoring scissors, the four inmates got out, covered the barbed wire fence with clothes to avoid the spikes, and jumped off the 15-feet high concrete fence of the Batangas Provincial Jail--too freedom.
On their way out, two jail guards ran after them  till they reached the Diversion Road in Brgy. Bolbok where  they caught two, injuring one of them, while the other two escaped.
The inmates cut the galvanized iron roof with tailoring
scissors and got out.
This was how the Batangas city police investigators pieced together the events that lead to the escape of the four prisoners from the Batangas Provincial Jail in Brgy. Cuta, Batangas City, on early morning  Monday,  their report released yesterday said.
The police identified the injured inmate as Peter Borce who was jailed for robbery. Borce was shot on the chest and was rushed to the Batangas Regional Hospital.  Also caught was Randy  Merelles who was doing time for robbery w/ homicide.
The police is still on a manhunt operation for fugitives Mariano Basilan who was jailed for murder and John Kenneth De Villa who was facing a rape w/ homicide case.
The jailguards on duty during the jailbreak are now facing investigation. (Mei Magsino, SLI)
