Malvar, Batangas – A nun
and two women died while two were wounded, after the vehicle they were on hit a
cargo truck early Thursday in this town’s portion of the Southern Tagalog Arterial
Road (STAR) Tollway Thursday morning, Batangas police said.
Declared dead on arrival at
the Lipa Mediatrix Hospital were Sister Flordelina Fernandez Espiritu, 52, a
nun at Three Kings Parish Council and Jasmine Gracia Liwag, 35, an employee of
Three Kings, and a woman identified only
as Emily.
The three were killed when
their Nissan Frontier hit an Isuzu Tractor Head with license plate RFY 710 and
with trailer plate BUE 328 driven by Vincent Lutrana Lampa, 27, in Barangay
(village) San Andres of this town, reports from the Batangas provincial
police office said.
According to the report, Espiritu and Emily died on the spot, with
Emily stuck at the front seat of the Nissan Frontier Pick-Up (CRR 986) they
were riding.
Liwag was declared dead on
arrival at the Mary Mediatrix Hospital in Lipa City where the two injured,
Larry Tumangan Mendoza, 47, the driver; and Maribel Sabat Gervacio, 45, also an
employee of Three Kings, were brought.
The cargo truck loaded with
tons of dried corn from Pangasinan is registered under the name of Sanyos Sy
Go, while the Nissan Frontier is registered under the name of church Three
Kings Parish Council.
Emily’s body was taken to Reycon Funeral Parlor in Malvar, Batangas,
while Espiritu and Liwag were still at the morgue of Mary Mediatrix Hospital. (SLI)
This is another unfortunate road tragedy. More than just ensuring public safety in the future, there should be available car accident attorney who will look after the claims of those left behind by this tragic incident.
ReplyDeleteIt bothers me whenever I see news about people dying due to road accidents. Unfortunately, this is something that can't be prevented anymore since there will always be irresponsible drivers out there. Even my friend, who's one of the los angeles brain injury attorneys, is still bothered by this type of news.
