Batangas Gov got highest vote in 3rd Term

Her biggest victory at the Capitol!  The Commission on Elections (COMELEC)
provincial board of canvassers proclaimed  Vilma Santos-Recto as the
governor-elect of Batangas. Based on Comelec’s Transparency Server,
Recto got 878,579 with 94 percent of total votes counted.  Also proclaimed
were Vice Governor Mark Leviste & 3rd District Board Members Fred
Corona and Divina Balba. The proclamation was led by COMELEC Provincial
Officer Atty. Gloria Petallo and Provincial Prosecutor Lourdes Zapanta last

Batangas City--In her third and last term,  Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto got her biggest votes ever since she ran for governor in 2007, according to the Comelec's Transparency Server which totalled her votes to 878,579 votes or 94 percent of the total votes counted.

"This is also a big victory for the Liberal Party here in Batangas. Imagine, majority of the winning mayors are from the LP and all our board members have won!"  Recto said during her proclamation on May 15.

Compared to her votes in the 2007 polls which totalled 475,740 against the then incumbent governor Armand Sanchez,  and the May 10, 2010 election, her votes have increased to 603,159.

In her speech, Recto stressed the mandate and the trust of the trust that the Batanguenos have been giving her since 2007.

She also emphasized herHEARTS program, which has been lauded by various organizations for its campaigns for improved health, education, environment, agriculture, roads/infrastructure, tourism and security.

“The kind of service I have been giving Batangas is the kind that they can see and they can feel," Recto said,"And I think I am an effective public servant becuase I have the best team, composed of the best people in the Capitol and the Provincial Council who have also been helping me deliver the services that the people need."  

Also proclaimed at the same time was her LP running mate Vice Gov. Mark Leviste, got a total of 796,697 votes.  Mei Magsino, SLI (With report from the PIO)
